when i drive at low speeds my car is making a whining noise…a little like a vacuum cleaner with something trapped in it!
it only happens when I turn the wheel though – as in I can make it start and stop by turning the wheel, so it’s surely connected.
could it be a power steering problem?
and will it just be expensive to fix or really super-expensive?

Where the water got in has all been fixed now, but the carpet is very wet on the drivers side. I’ve gotten most of it away with paper towel and newspapers, but is there anything else I can do to get rid of it before it starts smelling musty? I don’t have access to a vacuum cleaner that soaks up water unfortunately. Thanks

I have a 99 GMC Suburban and it was given to me by my grandfather, this truck has with stood 2 kids and 4 grand kids plus all of our friends, but there are a number of stains on the carpet, i was wanting to know the best way to get these out so i searched it here and found out it is best to remove everything and clean the carpet and pad then reinstall carpet but i need to know about how long is this going to take, and are there any pointers i need to know??? also cleaning leather seats??? and the carpet on the back of the seats? like the second row has footprints from people climbing into the third row how do i get these out? a carpet cleaning vacuum?? please help!!!
I am afraid to use chemicals because I am pregnant. But I am concerned that some of the fleas from my friend’s home hitch-hiked home with me… I have one cat of my own. I have already vacuumed the car and house, washed clothes & bedding (brought with to my friends), showered, and steam cleaned the car… I live in Minnesota and I was wondering if putting the things outside to freeze, that I cannot wash, would be effective.
When cops ask if they can search your car you are best off to tell them know because they always make a mess, and they never clean it.

My car is insanely filthy and I just got done with finals and would like to reward myself with a clean vehicle. I’m not looking for anything extravagant or expensive, probably just a good wash for the exterior and vacuum/ wipedown for the interior. I’m a college kid, so price is definitely a factor.
My roommate recommended Waterway on State Line, but the reviews don’t sound great.
If anyone has any recommendations, I would appreciate it. Also, if you could include a ballpark price, that would be even better.

I want to clean my god daughters car seat, smells a little weird, I can’t completely remove the cloth part so I kinda spot cleaned it with hot soapy water but I was wondering if it would be ok to use a foam carpet cleaner and vacuum it out to get it really clean.
The reason I ask is I am toying with the idea of buying one of those cigarette lighter powered mini vacuums and wonder if they work or if you can suggest anything better. Thank you.

how is there always at least 1 dried up french fry somewhere in my car when i vacuum it out? i clean my car once a week and haven’t eaten fast food in over a month. the closest i come to fast food is picking up chinese take out…and i’m pretty sure they don’t serve french fries.
1989 Buick LeSabre, 3.8L V6 with 163k miles.
The car was parked 3 years ago due to the purchase of a new car. It was a daily driver up to that point and ran perfectly but was just not needed anymore.
Anyway, its been decided to resurrect the car and run it again. However, when the car was first started it would take several cranks to fire and it would knock when cold. The knocking got much less as the motor warmed up though.
After an oil change the knock is almost totally gone other than under acceleration. It hasn’t been driven more than a couple blocks like this though.
Keep in mind that its still running 3+ year old gas.
So, with the knock getting less with fresh oil, what could be the problem? Just the oil not getting around the motor enough? Old fuel causing it to fire prematurely? A sticking valve?
I think it needs some injector cleaner and heet in the gas tank and maybe some Seafoam in the vacuum to clean out the upper end.
Any other thoughts?
The sound is coming from the top end of the motor so thats more evidence that its a lifter. I do have good oil pressure too.. the needle jumps up to pressure pretty quick too so there shouldn’t be any leaking seals or anything either.
My car was rained in 7 days ago. The next morning, I used a shop vac to soak up the standing water. I left my windows down and moonroof open with my car in the garage to allow it to air dry. My car smells as if there is something rotten inside. And last night, I noticed some mold growing on the back carpet which I cleaned out.
I have used an entire bottle of Febreze. I’ve sprinkled "Carpet Fresh" on my floorboard. I left this overnight then vacuumed it out. The odor is still very strong.

My friend has been constantly bugging me to join him. I think its pointless, trying to sell a 00 vacuum cleaner? It’s worth more than my car! Whats so great about this thing?
We have a Kia Spectra that when you turn on the heat/air it blows little bits of glass shards out the vents. Not sure if the windshield had been broken in the past and replaced or what. Have no idea how to clean out any remaining glass inside. The glass place suggested using a vacuum hose and sucking at the vents, but we have tried that and doesnt work.
How much should I expect to be paid per car to wash, one stage of buffing, wax, vacuum, shampoo carpets, clean windows, etc. if all of the supplies (soap, wax, compound) are given to me by the people I am detailing the car for? Would you charge more for an SUV or a mini van? I am not a professional, but I do do a very nice job.

I used towels and cleaned the seat with an all-purpose cleaner, let it dry and sprinkled baking soda and left it sit overnight and vacuumed it up…. and it still smells! Help!
I removed the emission control and pump off my car. I also replaced the stock air cleaner with an after market air cleaner. Making these changes and knowing that this car has a lot of vacuum controlled devices I expected troubles.
The car is running better than ever but I need help with 2 things that may be related or not.
1) The vacuum advance on the distributor used to go to the air cleaner. Where does it go now? I would assume direct to the carb but which port should it go to?
2) the transmission is not shifting into 3rd. I am sure this is a vacuum issue also. Where are the vacuum lines to the transmission and where do they connect. What else could it be?

I"ve stayed for 1 year and 1/2, and although it was advertised to be a Scanning project all we do is clean, dust, vacuum and move boxes.. This was not what i signed up for and i always question why the dumb boss makes us clean a dirty house , clean toilets etc.
The only reason i’ve stayed this long is cause I need money and prior to this my job search was failing badly. But the longer i stay the more i question why i’m here.
I dont even use any of the computer skills i have and we dont do anything that requires much brainwork.
Also because of this job, i got my shoulder injured badly and my knee too(i’m didn’t tell but i’m fine now, just with pain and abnormalities but whatever). now i have permanent injuries and it’s not even from a Job i liked.
I dont know how to quit though, if i quit im jobless and won’t hav emoney. I’m debt and i need to make monthly payments: Rent, school loans, car payments.
I’ve had some co-workers that got better jobs elsewhere after a while of working here. But i dont know how they did it. Plus they were studying in some technical schools and they new they have JObs guranteed upon graduation, that’s how one of my coworkers managed to switch jobs.
